ELL and ARRA Funding
Funds available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) provide an unprecedented opportunity to encourage innovation and improve educational practices. We would like your input about how these funds can be used to meet the needs of English language learners, as well as obstacles that might prevent these funds from being used to serve these students. We will compile this information and make it available to school districts and state departments of education, as well as others interested in improving educational practices for English language learners. To help gather this information, we have created a brief survey on state/district plans for ARRA funds. We know you are very busy, but we would greatly appreciate if you could take a few moments to complete this brief survey. The survey can be found at:

We estimate that the survey will take 10-15 minutes to complete. Your responses will be anonymous, though you can choose to provide us with your name and contact information at the end of the survey if you wish.
We would love to have your input! Also, please forward this survey link to anyone who can inform us about district and state practices regarding ELLs and ARRA.
Thank you for your time,
Diane August, Kenji Hakuta, Robert Linquanti, Jennifer O'Day, and Charlene Rivera
